v3,

Being able to share what I've learned over the years is actually a very rewarding experience.

I'm like vertigo3.  I don't post much, but I study everything you guys say.

Watching SS pull down 5 1/4 per or 8 1/2 per seemingly every day has ruined me for honest work. smile

Re: SmilingSynic's ES journal--observations and trades

Price failed at previous day's low, at first try.

Re: SmilingSynic's ES journal--observations and trades

NQ made its 50% day range test.

Re: SmilingSynic's ES journal--observations and trades

1 pm directional up move.

Together with 12 pm being day low so far, making it less likely to print new low by 3 pm.

Dow down 38 pts now, double green is within reach.

If that is the case then this could trigger a 1-2-3 buy.  Failure and down we go.

Re: SmilingSynic's ES journal--observations and trades

Price hit resistance wall of AH low.

DMA is starting to turn up, but has not as of yet.

Re: SmilingSynic's ES journal--observations and trades

NQ testing previous day low.

Show down now.

Re: SmilingSynic's ES journal--observations and trades

thanks--will get to these later

Re: SmilingSynic's ES journal--observations and trades

PP is in range of the MM.

Re: SmilingSynic's ES journal--observations and trades

Failing to touch the PP--now that would be some tease.

Then again, the swing low before the collapse has been touched, to the very tick: 1103.50.

Re: SmilingSynic's ES journal--observations and trades

I was holding for the PP, but ditched at 01.25, when the low of the prev 5 minute bar was taken out.

LC, can you define a "directional move?"

I can understand negating expectations for a new Low in  2-3 slot if price moves above 50% of day, but how do you define a directional move?

Re: SmilingSynic's ES journal--observations and trades

Bears who got in too early in the last thirty minutes or so were burned three straight times, when a weak close was followed by a bar that had the exact same tick.

Re: SmilingSynic's ES journal--observations and trades

Although this won't happen today, or likely this week, there is still a gap down there at 1063.75.

Re: SmilingSynic's ES journal--observations and trades

Not all hourly bar are directional - or "trend".

An hourly bar is directional, when the higher resolution (5 min, 10 min, etc.) within the bar showing trend quality. i.e. HH HL all the way

Remember I talked about a trend (down) week? And that I am very sure new low will be made 1st the week after before any significany rally can happen.

Same logic applies, so we are likely going to see a new high over 1 pm slot high before the 1 pm slot low would be tested.

Ok, stalled at triple green (SPX was last one to join the party for just a few seconds).

EDIT-- my point?  Potential for one-sided trading, if the market breaks, since those thrice-burned are likely thrice-shy.

Re: SmilingSynic's ES journal--observations and trades

Another way I use to define intraday trend bars is based on the tick reading where custom tick indices showing extreme buying/selling throughout the bar duration.

Today, 11 am slot is a trend down bar and 1 pm slot is a trend up bar, on hourly.

Market is not breaking here.  We have a new high on the hour.

NOW we'll see.

Re: SmilingSynic's ES journal--observations and trades

They got that pivot point.

Re: SmilingSynic's ES journal--observations and trades

A fight to create a w. spring against previous day low.

Well, the tail is a bit too long =P

Re: SmilingSynic's ES journal--observations and trades

PP was also 60M ORL.  Double magnets smile

Re: SmilingSynic's ES journal--observations and trades

Day's take = + 19 3/4 per (before commissions).  Beautiful, well-behaved swings today.

One day left in the week, month, and summer, for me.

I should probably take the day off tomorrow, but there is no way that is going to happen.

Tomorrow I want to be here 930-400--no lunch, watching every tick.
